Last week, I had the pleasure of attending my first International Quilt Festival in Houston. I was wholly unprepared for the size of the Houston Convention Center and the number of quilts and vendors. It was truly mind-boggling! With three full days scheduled to see the show and attend 3 lectures, I thought that I would surely be killing time by the last day. Instead, I found myself worrying that I wouldn’t be able to see all of the quilts. By the last day, I was just walking past each quilt, only really examining the ones that caught my attention. A number of the really spectacular quilts were prohibited from being photographed. Fortunately, a number of those are available in the book 500 Art Quilts. Even though the lighting wasn’t the best for my little camera, I took a lot of pictures of the quilts that I liked something about. The quality of all of the quilts was really high. I’m not sure if I’m inspired or intimidated!
