Film History Quilt

This is a quilt that I made for my husband for Christmas one year.  It commemorates his “film history” course that he set up to introduce me to film classics starting with the early silent films and working up to current films.  Some of his favorites are depicted on this quilt: The General, Bride of Frankenstein, The Maltese Falcon, and Casablanca.  I printed old movie postcards onto heat-transfer paper to get the image on to fabric.  I set the images between a strip of black and white rectangles to create the suggestion of motion picture film.
