Kitty Moon

9″ x 12″

Completed 2007

This is another little 9″x12″ quilt in my moon series created as an exercise from The Art Quilt Workbook, by Jane Davila and Elin Waterston. This chapter dealt with surface embellishments such as paint and foil. I haven’t gotten to the painting yet, but the foil was a lot of fun. However, I’m not into quilts with a lot of glitz, so the foil shows up in this little quilt as a holographic foil laid over lavender fabric to “illuminate” the crescent moon which the kitties are contemplating.  The kitties, of course, are my two.  They don’t usually coexist so peacefully though, perhaps they are compelled by the moon to behave.  The style of this piece was influenced by the work of Pam RuBert, who creates the PaMdora quilts, and is entirely fused. The edge is finished with rick-rack.
