9″ x 12″
In 2007, I started working through The Art Quilt Workbook, by Jane Davila and Elin Waterston. So far, it has been a great experience and has forced me to try techniques that I’m not usually comfortable with. Part of the experience of working through the book is to create a series of 9″ x 12″ sampler quilts on one theme, using different techniques from each chapter. I picked moons as my theme and this is the first in my series. It was completely unplanned except for the moon. One of the things I experimented with in this quilt was using borders of variable width and in having quilt elements flow out into the border space. I also used a pillowcase closure instead of the typical binding. The Moon is pieced into the background and all the trees are fused into place.
