Silhouette Moon

Silhouette Moon

9″ x 12″

Completed 2007

In 2007, I started working through The Art Quilt Workbook, by Jane Davila and Elin Waterston. Part of the experience of working through the book is to create a series of 9″ x 12″ sampler quilts on one theme, using different techniques from each chapter. I picked moons as my theme and this is the second in my series. This little quilt was inspired by a photo we took on our honeymoon of the moon viewed through the dark outline of the trees at the beach. The moon is appliquéd with iridescent organdie over white fabric and there are silver beads and crystals attached to give the look of stars. The border was created by wrapping shirred organdie over the edges of the quilt.
