Deck of Cards

39″ x 39″

Completed in 2000

This a pattern called “Four of a Kind”, made from card trick blocks.  The pattern comes from the American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, February 2000.  I found some fabric I really liked for a border and bought some matching solids and made the squares.  While I was puzzling on how to set it, I received a fat quarter set in the mail from a fabric club I belonged to that was designed to go with the border fabric I had already picked out.  I fussy-cut the strip out of this fabric and used it between the blocks so that it looked woven.  The border fabric was quite a challenge to use for the mitered corners.  After finishing the top, I had it professionally quilted.
