French Table Runner

French Table Runner

18″ x 42″

Completed April 2009

Many years ago on one of my first trips to Asilomar, I picked up a wonderful selection of San Francisco fabrics. They actually remind me more of French cafes than San Francisco, but they are charming anyway. They’ve stayed in my fabric stash since then, taken out and fondled occasionally, but I was always afraid to cut them up.  I eventually decided that the time had come for me to do something with them, even at the risk of ruining the fabric. So, I decided to make a table runner to go with my Jill Butler French bistro place mats. The pattern comes from The Quilt Maniac’s Playbook by Nicole C. Chambers. I think it matches pretty well and is bright and cheerful so I don’t regret cutting the fabric. I did wimp out a little and put the best fabric (the painted ladies) on the back though!
