Hearts and Flowers

I made this flannel lap quilt as a Christmas present for my mother-in-law.  The pattern is primarily made up of shoo fly blocks.  I tried to use up a set of flannel fabrics that I had in my stash, but I ended up needing to purchase more light blue to make the borders to my liking.  I also thought that the quilt top was a bit boring even though I liked the simple blocks, so I added fusible appliqué hearts and flowers outlined in a navy-blue button stitch.  I like the finished result with the hearts and flowers much better.
